EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR BIODIVERSITY AWARENESS
Over the years, we have worked with our local partners to develop tools, resources, and methods that we have subsequently adapted and replicated from one region to another. Born out of dynamic exchanges between science, conservation, and local issues, these tools are unique, tailored to specific needs, and address clearly identified requirements.
Educational Coloring Book
By taking the time to observe and colour each animal, children become familiar with its appearance and distinctive features, while developing an interest in learning more about it. Accompanying texts provide further information about each species, including its diet, conservation status, distinctive characteristics and ecological role. This helps children better understand wildlife, learn how to identify it, reduce fear and challenge misconceptions, while learning how to behave safely in its presence.

Coexistence Human–Fauna
1. Why Protect Amphibians and Reptiles?
They are often feared or misunderstood. This poster explains their roles in ecosystems and why protecting them is essential.
2. Why Are Snakes Important?
A closer look at the ecological roles of snakes and the important part they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
3. How to Identify a Venomous Snake?
Simple information to help people recognize local snake species and understand which ones are venomous.
4. What to Do When You Encounter a Snake?
Practical advice on how to behave safely when a snake is nearby, as well as the appropriate steps to take in case of a snakebite.
Educational Storybook
Created in Peru through a co-creation process with the communities managing the conservation concessions of the Bosques de Vaquero biocorridor, Sumi’s Adventures is an educational storybook featuring a threatened and endemic frog as its main character. As Sumi searches for a new home after her forest is degraded, she encounters other emblematic species of the biocorridor, each reflecting the characteristics and ecological roles of the species they represent.
Through storytelling, art and local knowledge, the book introduces children to the biodiversity of their territory, the threats it faces and the importance of protecting it, while highlighting the role of local communities in safeguarding their forests.
Habitat Learning Activity

This interactive activity uses a poster representing a local landscape, where participants place images of local plants and animals according to the habitats where they live. By identifying species and connecting them to their habitats, participants learn more about their needs, ecological roles and the pressures they face.
The activity also creates a space for discussion and knowledge sharing. Participants can share their own knowledge, experiences and beliefs about local species, helping to value local knowledge while deepening our understanding of the relationships between communities and wildlife.
The Cacao Game
The Cacao Game is an educational activity developed by Nature Conserv’Action to help children understand the role of biodiversity in cacao production.
Through a playful game, students discover how frogs, snakes and lizards can naturally help control cacao pests. By exploring these interactions, children learn that protecting biodiversity can also benefit crops and support a healthier coexistence between cacao production and the wildlife that lives alongside it.

iNaturalist Guides
Pocket-sized guides designed to help local communities use the iNaturalist app to document and monitor the biodiversity found in the conservation areas they manage. By learning to record and identify species themselves, communities can build their own biodiversity data, support monitoring and reporting, and contribute to citizen science initiatives. This tool strengthens their autonomy by reducing their dependence on external scientists and providing useful information for the management and assessment of their conservation areas.

Educational Panel on Reptiles
A local educational panel designed to introduce visitors to the reptiles found in the area. It presents the main local species, their distinctive characteristics and habitats, while highlighting their ecological roles and the importance of protecting them. The panel also aims to help visitors to understand and appreciate better reptiles as part of the local biodiversity.
